Spitters are an environmental hazard which will inflict infection and a small amount of damage when triggered. They cannot be killed, but they can be temporarily neutralised. They made their debut in Rundown 002.

Appearance[]
When active, the Spitter is a greyish sack with smaller green bulbs filled with a blue-greenish liquid. The bulbs enlarge and brighten when a player approaches. When inactive, Spitters are smaller and lack the bulbs. When exploding they will glow bright in a similar colour to the bulbs.
Spawning[]
Spitters only appear in certain rooms in certain expeditions, usually those with higher levels of infectious fog. They can spawn on almost any surface and they also appear in different sizes.
Behaviour[]
Spitters have two different states which determine their behaviour:
Inactive[]
When in this state the Spitter is completely incapable of harming a player. They enter this state when they:
- Have a flashlight shining on them (inactive for 30 seconds)
- Explode by either shooting, melee attacking, or proximity to a player (inactive for 35 seconds)
- Become C-Foamed (inactive for 4 minutes, requires a single blob of foam)
Active[]
When active, Spitters will explode when a player is in close proximity. When a Spitter explodes, it will inflict direct damage and infection onto any players within their range. The amount of infection depends on the player's proximity to the Spitter.
