Spear

The spear is one of the available types of melee weapons in the game. Like with all melee weapons, the player can do basic attacks, charged attacks, and shoves.

The spear has the longest range and highest potential single-attack damage out of all the melee weapons, but it suffers from generally being a slow weapon to use, and can slow the user down as well.

Attacks[]

Basic Attack[]

Left-clicking on an enemy will perform a basic attack. It will not do as much damage as a charged attack. Killing a sleeper or hitting a surface may wake up nearby sleepers. It does two damage with no charge (or 2.6 damage if hitting an enemy head weakpoint).

Charged Attack[]

Holding left-click will charge up the weapon, filling the circle in the middle of the screen. A few seconds after it has been fully charged, it will automatically perform the attack. Releasing left-click at any time will also perform the attack. A charged attack does significantly more damage than a basic attack. Like the basic attack, killing a sleeper or hitting a surface may wake up nearby sleepers. Fully charging deals 17.5 damage - less than a fully-charged sledgehammer's 20 damage - but if you hit an enemy's head weakpoint, it deals an impressive 26.5 damage (before factoring in the individual weakpoint multiplier). This is more than enough damage to kill a Striker when hit in the back or the head.

Unlike other melee weapons, prisoners cannot run at full speed when charging the spear - only able to run at 75% speed whilst charging. This is still ~29% faster than walking speed, but no other melee weapon suffers from this impairment.

The spear's range is long enough to silently kill enemies from outside their crouch alert range. Spear range is 3 meters, while crouch alert range is 2. This longer range also makes it very safe for killing giants from outside their melee range.

Scouts can be killed with a fully charged hit to the head.

Shove[]

Right-clicking on an enemy will perform a shove. Shoving will stagger most enemies and stop their attack for a short period of time. Shoving can also be used to cancel a charged melee attack. Shoving a sleeper will immediately wake it up, but it will not affect big sleepers. Shoving does not wake up nearby sleepers.

Players can also "Quick-Shove" by pressing whatever is bound as their "Melee", defaulted to "C". It will switch from whatever you have currently equipped outside of melee and perform a shove. When a melee weapon is equipped, it will just perform a normal shove.

Spears are the only melee weapon that consumes Stamina when shoving enemies.

Damage Against Locks[]

Melee weapons have an "environmental multiplier" which makes them deal differing amounts of damage to physical locks. The spear deals double damage to locks when uncharged, but triple damage when fully charged.

Reskins[]

Between Rundown 6.0 and ALT://Rundown 6.0, the MACO Drillhead was the only spear available to prisoners. However, as of Rundown 8.0, prisoners may opt to use the IsoCo Stinger instead.

Trivia[]

  • The MACO Drillhead was presumably never intended to be used as a spear, rather, that it was intended to be used as a drill head.
    • It can be presumed that the prisoners/the warden procured this drillhead from the myriad of abandoned mining equipment throughout Garganta.
