The Nightmare Striker is an enemy introduced in Rundown 8.0 and is a variant of the Striker with many similarities to Chargers.

Appearance[ | ]

Nightmare Strikers have an appearance similar to regular Strikers, having a muscular humanoid male figure, but with a darker, grayish skin, along with being slightly bigger. The biggest difference between the two is that the Nightmare Striker has tentacles sprouting from where their head is supposed to be, similar to the ones on the ceiling in their 'habitat'. They also have some tumors present on their body, specifically two big ones in the back and the front that serve as weak spots.

Spawning[ | ]

The Nightmare Striker is exclusive to levels within Rundown 8.0. They usually appear in big groups, making them a higher threat. Finding them in an alarmed state is rare, but some alarms feature small quantities of them, and some deeper expeditions feature them as the only spawning enemy in some alarms.

Two of their appearances also feature tentacles hanging from the ceiling.

Behavior[ | ]

Its behavior is a mix of regular Strikers and Chargers. Unlike Chargers, they'll occasionally choose to strafe around, however unlike Strikers they will also attempt to rush and punch the player while their tongue attack is on cooldown.

Strategies[ | ]

Nightmare Strikers have relatively high HP, making them pose a large threat. Their weak points are the small tumors located on the upper-front and upper-back of their body, but these are difficulty to hit once awake.

When sleeping, they can be stealth killed by melee weapons as with other enemies: With Sledgehammer, one can kill them with one hit on their tumors, or a charged hit in the back. With spear, only both their tumors will one-shot them, but hitting them in the back will leave them with incredibly low HP. With both Bat and Knife, its only possible to one-shot by hitting the tumor in the back.

Nightmare Strikers are also more resistant to stagger, meaning Bat doesn't stagger them with single taps, instead having to charge it more, and similarly weaponry having a harder time staggering them unless multiple shots are fired.

On weaponry, high damage guns or high staggering weaponry is recommended against them unless there isn't other options, since Nightmare Strikers have so much HP they will suck up the magazine of the weapon in use and force a reload, prompting other enemies to come by and attack. 30 damage weaponry is the best for then since one shot will leave them at low HP, and as usual HEL weaponry will penetrate multiple targets making it more effective as well.
