The Nightmare Giant is a tough unique enemy variant. It serves as a tank with a very high health pool, that can do heavy bursts of damage with its devastating projectile barrage.
Appearance[ | ]
Nightmare Giants differ greatly in appearance from other Giant types. It has no visible head and no arms. They have long muscular legs, the extent of their mutations apparent with a rough brown tubular torso and black spikes emerging at various random parts of their body. It will take a stance like a Giant when it prepares to fire its ranged attack.
Spawning[ | ]
Nightmare Giants are very rare, with only one that can be encountered during the secondary objective in R8A2 during a Diminished Class V alarm.
Behavior[ | ]
Their attack patterns are similar to Shooters as they prefer to keep their distance while firing a flurry of red homing projectiles at the players. These are similar to the red projectiles fired by the Kraken.
These projectiles are fired at a slower velocity than other projectiles, but compensate with better homing.
Strategy[ | ]
The only instance of the Nightmare Giants is during an alarm, they cannot be found sleeping. It is advised to kill it as soon as possible, as its ranged attack will force players to move out of scans.
One can effectively dodge shots from a Nightmare Giant by finding cover or continually strafing during its flurry attack to avoid projectiles.
Audio[ | ]
The Nightmare Giant reuses sounds from Giants, including death sounds, and its "tongue" sound indicate when it begins to fire projectiles.
