Knife

The Knife is one of the available types of melee weapons in the game. Like with all melee weapons, the player can do basic attacks, charged attacks, and shoves. The Knife has increased charge speed but reduced range and about 30% base damage of Sledgehammers. The Knife also does more damage when hitting weak points, allowing it to one shot Strikers and Shooters with a hit to the back, head or occiput.

Attacks[]

Basic Attack[]

Left-clicking on an enemy will perform a basic attack. It will not do as much damage as a charged attack. Killing a sleeper or hitting a surface may wake up nearby sleepers. It does two damage with no charge.

Charged Attack[]

Holding left-click will charge up the weapon, filling the circle in the middle of the screen. A few seconds after it has been fully charged, it will automatically perform the attack. Releasing left-click at any time will also perform the attack. A charged attack does significantly more damage than a basic attack. Like the basic attack, killing a sleeper or hitting a surface may wake up nearby sleepers. Fully charging deals enough damage to kill Strikers when hit in the back or the head, and Shooters when hit in the head.

Because the Knife has the fastest charge time of all melee weapons, it is able to rapidly kill multiple sleepers that are close together before one can alert the rest of the room, provided your aim is good. While it is possible to do this with the Bat, and even the Sledgehammer, the Knife can do it the fastest and with the least risk of the second sleeper suddenly waking the room before the a charged attack is ready.

Scouts can be killed with a fully charged hit to the back of the head. However, this is more difficult than other melee weapons and requires practice. If possible, Scouts should be taken out by other melee weapons such the Spear or the Sledgehammer.

While risky, the knife can be used to solo a Giant without taking damage. Every hit must be to the back of the giant for full backstab damage to ensure a limb is broken each time, causing heavy stagger. This is much safer to do on a Big Shooter.

Shove[]

Right-clicking on an enemy will perform a shove. Shoving will stagger most enemies and stop their attack for a short period of time. Shoving can also be used to cancel a charged melee attack. Shoving a sleeper will immediately wake it up, but it will not affect big sleepers. Shoving does not wake up nearby sleepers.

Players can also "Quick-Shove" by pressing whatever is bound as their "Melee", defaulted to "C". It will switch from whatever you have currently equipped outside of melee and perform a shove. When a melee weapon is equipped, it will just perform a normal shove.

Damage Against Locks[]

Melee weapons have an "environmental multiplier" which makes them deal differing amounts of damage to physical locks. The knife deals 0.8x damage to physical locks on basic attacks, and 1.5x damage on fully charged ones.

Low noise[]

The knife's "low noise" feature halves the distance that enemies can react when attacking physical locks, or hitting the environment. It also reduces the chance for an enemy to wake up from the long range aggro (it doesn't reduce the distance).

Reskins[]

Between Rundown 6.0 and ALT://Rundown 6.0, the Mastaba Fixed Blade Knife was the only knife available to prisoners. However, as of Rundown 8.0, prisoners may opt to use the Wox Compact Knife instead.
