The Drekker CLR is a semi-automatic 30-round rifle which occupies the special weapon slot. It is a non-rundown specific weapon and was released with Rundown 8.0.
Description[]
Drekker CLR is best described as "Main weapon that infiltrated the Special category", featuring a variety of confusing (and somewhat conflicting) design choices.
It features 2nd lowest damage per bullet among specials, only outdone by Veruta LMG. It also features the lowest stagger multiplier of x0.5, which in practice means that a common Striker staggers after 3(!) bodyshots or 1 headshot. Large enemies effectively ignore the weapon. It has bottom-of-the-barrel precision multiplier of x0.7413, and lower-than-average fall-off range of 8 meters, simultaneously making it ineffective as both a ranged option and a headshot hunter.
In return for its many shortcomings in terms of actual force application - Drekker CLR attempts to compensate by being exceptionally easy to operate. It features an inoffensive low-zoom scope for close range encounters, minimal recoil, a relatively large magazine for a semi-auto weapon, the fastest reload among specials, fairly generous ammo supply that almost never runs out, and most surprising of all - sharing the highest rate of fire in the game with Raptus Treffen 2 Machine Pistol, with only "but" being the fact that it is a semi-auto, making the practical application of said fire rate effectively impossible without either pushing the limits of human body, or using some kind of macro.
All this results in a weapon that appears to fulfill a very weird niche of a passive, close-to-medium range harasser, chipping away at enemies so that players with stronger weapons could finish them off without wasting ammo on margins, acting very much like a second main weapon. The only enemies it performs well against are common Strikers, Shooters, and some other lesser enemies, while being oppressively overshadowed by every other special weapon against anything bigger.
Tips[]
- It is highly advised bringing a powerful Main weapon like Sawed-Off or HEL Shotgun to compensate for lack of DPS.
- At the very least - this ensures that you have something to fight Giants with.
- Despite the low precision multiplier - it is still advised to aim for the heads of small enemies to maximize damage output, saving up to 2 bullets on Strikers and up to 5 bullets on Shooters.
- Headshots also reliably stagger Strikers with every shot, bypassing the x0.5 multi.
Trivia[]
- Drekker CLR appears to feature a Stock that was exclusively found on burst-fire weapons, including Burst Rifle, DTR, and Burst Cannon.
- This could imply that this weapon was originally meant to be a burst-fire weapon of some sort, which in turn would explain otherwise subpar firepower of each individual trigger pull, as well as its absurd maximum fire rate.
