Big Chargers are towering enemies found deeper within the Complex. They are the larger, more durable cousins of the Charger enemy. They serve as powerhouse tanks, soaking up gunfire and dealing massive amounts of damage that can quickly wipe an unprepared team. They made their debut in Rundown 004.

Appearance[]

Big Chargers have a very similar appearance to their smaller form. Their flesh has a dark black colour and they have distinctive horns or spikes growing on their head. Due to their dark appearance, they can be difficult to locate in dark rooms and are only faintly visible when glowing. They share the same deep and slow growling sound with Giants when listening to their environment.

Spawning[]

Big Chargers are only found within deeper levels of the Complex, occasionally spawning alerted during reactor waves and Alarms. They can appear sleeping more commonly in Optional sector zones, but they aren't confined to these and can appear in Main objective routes too. If they are found sleeping, its much more commonly alongside normal Chargers or Charger Scouts. They can also spawn alerted behind Blood Doors.

In certain expeditions they are seen sleeping with Tanks or attacking with them.

Behavior[]

The Big Charger acts identical to other sleeping enemies in their dormant form. It will stand mostly still, except for when it is listening to the environment, when doing so they are more aware of sounds and flashlights from players.

When alerted, the Big Charger will quickly attempt to use its punch attack much like Chargers, which is incredibly devastating, striking twice and doing 40% damage per hit. It is advisable not to get too close under any circumstances.

When engaging at a distance, their ranged attack is very damaging and comes out faster than the sluggish Giant's. It shares the same long-range, but will not perform it as often unless there's a long sightline between itself and players. Once the Big Charger performs a ranged attack, it will take 10 seconds for it to perform another one. During this 10 seconds, the Big Charger will only use their punches to attack players. The Big Charger can still stagger from gunfire, which can slow it down or expose its vulnerable back. Despite their hulking size, Big Chargers retain the same speed as regular Chargers.

Strategies[]

Big Chargers are prone to being heavily staggered much like Giants, and will stagger whenever one of their body parts is broken. The parts of the body that can be broken are the head, chest, pelvis, both arms, and both legs.

Stealth[]

Standard Takedown
Big Chargers can be stealthy killed by synchronizing three fully charged melee swings to the back. These hits must be performed with a sufficiently damaging melee weapon (either the Sledgehammer or Spear), stealth killing Big Chargers with other melee weapons is possible, but will generally take longer or be less consistent. See Giant#Strategies for more details on the efficacy of different melee weapons and general strategies against larger enemies.

Stagger Chaining
This strategy is still possible but it is not recommended against Big Chargers due to how quickly they can initiate their punch attack compared to Giants.

Loud[]

Shooting
It is discouraged to use weapons like the Shotgun (due to their up close range) unless you know what you are doing, due to the fact they can close the distance with the player and unleash their devastating punch attack. Alternatively, high stagger weapons also work great as staggering a Big Charger cancels their running attack, allowing a player to resume firing by creating distance and potentially forcing them to use their less deadly tongue attack which can be dodged by going around corners.

Team Melee
This strategy is also not recommended against Big Chargers for the same reasons as Stagger Chaining but is still possible.
